Pokkuluwa Kanda is a truly stunning estate growing tea, cinnamon, pepper and fruit, which teems with exotic birds, peacocks and monkeys. It is situated 800 feet above sea level just 10kms from Galle, and has views to the sea in one direction and jungle in others. It is a working tea estate.
The house which is some 9000 sq ft in area has extensive living and dining areas, six double bedrooms, large 53ft overall long x 18ft “l” shaped infinity swimming pool, with comfortable loungers and parasols.
The Villa is newly built and was designed by one of Sri Lanka’s foremost architects. It comprises a Master Suite with living area, and a dramatic open-air bathroom with bath tub, two showers and vanitory units. There are four further very large double bedrooms all with ensuite bathrooms. They are luxuriously appointed with startling designs featuring the natural rocks on which the villa is built. In the garden there is the self-contained Jungle Room with two double beds, en suite shower and massage room. The layout of this makes it an ideal family room.
The huge living and dining areas surround a magnificent kitchen and have commanding 360degree views. There is a roof terrace ideal for sunset drinks, and there are numerous other secluded sitting and chilling out areas, and an air conditioned TV room with vast lounging sofas.

Down from there is the master suite comprising a huge semi open-air bath room with two showers, basins, loos and a molded stone bath, featuring the natural rocks and flowering shrubs. The “l” shaped air-conditioned master bedroom has a 20ft x 14ft sitting area with sofa, two armchairs and another tv/dvd. The bedroom itself with 7ft x 6.6ft bed has windows to three sides and doors leading out to a verandah and the swimming pool
Bedroom 1
18ft x 22ft with a 7 x 6ft bed is air-conditioned has polished titanium beds encompassing bedside tables. There is a day bed molded into a natural rock with writing desk. en-suite 18ft x 7ft shower room with twin vanitory and loo.
Bedroom 2
18ft x 22ft with a 7 x 6ft four post bed is furnished with Ceylonese antiques and has en-suite 18ft x 7ft shower room, with double vanitory, loo and a refurbished pre-war steel bath tub
Bedroom 3 18ft x 22ft has two adjoining single 4 post beds, well furnished with a comfortable day bed with an en suite shower room, with double vanitory and loo. open air shower
Bedroom 4
13ft x 17ft is upstairs with a 27 x 9ft balcony overlooking the tea and jungle. There are planters chairs and a free standing bath tub on the balcony which offers outstanding views especially as the sun rises above the tea and melts the mist off it. Inside the bedroom there is a 5.5 x 6.5 ft iron framed 4 post double bed with an en-suite shower, double vanitory and loo.
The jungle room
27 x 23ft set in the garden with a verandah. This is a self-contained building which has two polished titanium 6 x 6.5ft double beds with bedside tables, en suite shower room with basin in a vanitory unit room and loo and ensuite massage room. This set-up offers ideal family accommodation.
